Is this really necessary?

I thought the sequels pretty much raped this franchise enough but remaking it? Hollywood never learns lol!

I don't understand the laugh out loud comment, perhaps because I am stupid. The alleged sequels to the Brandon Lee original are wastes of time. I am watching the original film of The Crow right now, played on an Oppo Blu-ray player, and although I like Jason Mamoa as body-builder and a personality, though not so much as an actor, HOW IN THE NAME OF HOLY FUCK is this movie going to stand against a movie in which Bruce Lee's charismatic and gifted son fucking died?! What kind of moron gave this the green light? For you Millennials who can't be bothered to do research: Bruce Lee, Brandon's father, established the martial arts movie genre in this country. Bruce Lee would have fucked John Wick raw in the ass, if he were so inclined. I firmly believe that his son, Brandon, would have rivaled and perhaps eclipsed Arnold Schwarzenegger as the biggest action star in the world. If The Rock were the lead in this, I would say, Okay, maybe, he is ripped, likeable, and maybe. But both The Rock and Mamoa are too physically large, and juiced, to be The Crow, and Brandon fucking Lee NAILED this role. For all time.

The only reason why they're doing a remake is because the first one is so loved. "MOTHER is the name for GOD on the lips and hearts of every child." There will not be one line like this in the new Crow.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts about this: it is destined to suck. Mamoa is a terrible actor IMO and does not have the credentials to play The Crow. This is a really bad idea! Basically we're getting a wrestler looking guy for the crow lol.......it's just ridiculous. Hollywood is running out of titles to remake and milk some money out of them so I guess The Crow is next, next we'll have Die Hard or Rambo being remade......Hollywood is run by scumbags who have no respect for the original films. Is Mamoa is the best Crow they could find? Really? You just know this film will be PC as well and we won't get the same rawness of the original, we won't see the gang swallowing bullets while taking shots, we sure as hell won't see a black man dying like Tin Tin because we can't offend anybody(black lives matter ya know), we won't see children being put in danger like in Sarah's case because people are pussies about that now, most of the gang will have to be multi racial/cultural because we just can't have white guys be the majority of the gang anymore......ethnic cleansing and all. Women won't be treated like shit like you saw in the first one because feminists won't tolerate that, the gun play will be toned down because of anti gun liberals who are offended by extreme gun violence so expect a lot of Jason Bourne type fights/shaky cam action scenes in this......only just more gothic lol! It probably won't have much of a soundtrack like the first one if at all, also don't expect a classic memorable score like Graeme Revell......more than likely Marco Beltrami or Tyler Bates will score this nowadays. Yeah, all in all expect a very millennial Crow remake for a very stupid millennial audience(and I'm a millennial myself lol!). This should not be remade. Period.

You know your music. I'm impressed. Music matters. It's the most powerful artform that our species (or perhaps any species, c.f., Close Encounters of the Third Kind) has. And thank you for your supportive comments. The Crow is not a juggernaut. The Crow is a ghost warrior.

reply

It'll probably be a brawl fest with a bunch of slow-motion punches and clotheslining. Then Momoa will growl at the camera.

I bet the line "Eat crow!" will be in it, too. Might as well just destroy the "franchise."

At least we can be rest assured that it'll probably be rebooted again in the future, to make up for this one.

But I do hope this one is actually good, and true to the comic.

reply

The way Hollywood makes movies now I doubt this will be very good, they already destroyed the franchise with poor lackluster sequels. They had a chance in 1996 to make a good sequel but they blew it. Momoa is way too buff to be the crow, the crow was never buff like a football player lol. It's silly.

reply

Jason Mamoa is like the poorman's Vin Diesel

reply

And according to the picture posted, Momoa keeps his beard in this role. It's a superficial element, I know, but I just don't see Eric Draven as sporting a hipster goatee. I thought at least Momoa would be clean shaven, because without the beard he bears a strong resemblance to Brandon in this role.

reply

It's going to be a disaster, I can see it coming. Does anyone really care about The Crow franchise anymore? Yeah, the first one is still talked about but who the fuck wants a remake or another crappy sequel? I just don't see any demand for this.

reply

I know. The sequels were crap. The first one is a classic of its kind, now, well in my opinion at least, and in that capacity I do think its fanbase does care -- but not about the franchise, just about that one film.

I don't think anyone wants to see a remake, from the devoted all the way to the casual movie goer with no horse in the race. It's just pure money-grubbing speculation from an industry running out of ideas other than to grab from the past.

Wat. Noooooo!!!!

This movie is gonna be totes fresh. Anyone throws shade at it, I'm gonna clap back so hard that they'll be all like "#I can't even".

"one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia' - but only slightly less well-known is this: NEVER REMAKE THE CROW"

reply

The original crow with brandon lee means so much to so many because of the tragic outcome for brandon lee !

Fate may have taken him but before it did , it gave him a movie that he absolutely nailed, was astonishing in, and no one else could ever touch !

This will be instantly forgettable and mean nothing to nobody !

You believe Hollywood execs make their decisions based on your beliefs about necessity?

I think their formula has much more to do with whether they believe films will 1. make money, or 2. feed their egos

reply

Oh, no.....Hollywood execs are nothing more than greedy, money hungry pieces of shit with unkillable egos as high as Mt. Everest. No doubt about it but at the end of the day these remakes are unnecessary whether the exec. think so or not. What they're doing is just wrong and based solely on greed which last time I checked......is immoral and unethical. I hope Hollywood continues to implode because honestly, who needs them? Most movies suck ass nowadays, there's hardly anything original anymore, movie theaters are losing money and a lot of what goes on behind the scenes is being exposed now with all the child predators/sexual harassment. It's just utterly disgusting.
