Some of the drama seemed contrived - or was it ?

All of that muscling of her out by the mensfolk. I see the real Philippa at the big table w/ Buckley when they were making the announcement in a documentary, and also that the other three trenches changed their estimate of where the choir was and raised the the prospect that the bones in the first trench could be important, rather than Philippa stamping her foot and forcing them to excavate it against their will.

So, I come away from this with the suspicion that some of the drama, some of the feminist theme, was overblown. We have conflicting narratives. It seems incontrovtible that she was the indispensible person in the effort, in any case. Maybe all those men were jerky to her, but if they weren't, its kind of low to depict them that way. But historical films do seem usually compelled to create villains in order to spice up the story.

I wonder, especially, what Buckley has to say about his portrayal, because it was far from complimentary.

If anyone has an inside informed unbiased understanding of events, it would be nice to hear.

Yeah that part where another woman comes to her aid just because some man told her that science is based on evidence rather than feelings seemed a bit strange. I guess science must be sexist.
