Am I the only one who thought the ending should be that.....

Pratt dies / sacrifices himself so that Lawrence and the ship would survive...

and then Lawrence would inevitably wake up some other guy to be her companion...

Seems like a complete wasted opportunity to bring the movie full circle and provide some sort of plot twist ending..

rather than a cliche, non dramatic ending.. (eye roll)

Anyone else?

reply

I think the ending should be the passengers waking up to their skeletons sitting as if in a party with a sign written "Welcome to homestead."

Andskotinn!

As I was watching it, I imagined that they would take turns in the Autodoc -- One of them would spend a day or two in the Autodoc, then they'd get together for an hour or two, and then the other would take a turn. They wouldn't have to be alone for more than a day or so at a time, and they'd both have a chance to see landing at the destination. I'm I the only one who thought of that? They both could have survived.

They both could have survived.

Who cares? They were dumb, selfish fictional characters - in an especially dumb movie.

I also thought that :)
but they weren very clever... i mean, if i were in jim's (was it jim?) shoes i would have waken up another engeneer or someone who could help put me back to sleep. I know the crew was not possible to wake up, bue i mean.. in 5000 people, i bet he could wake up 2 or 3 people who could help

How does he identify such a person? Simply being an engineer doesn't mean that the person knows squat about the hibernation technology.

i bet he could wake up 2 or 3 people who could help

Why would there be 3 people who knew anything about hibernation technology?

reply

are you serious? thet all had interviews and "life story" records.. he had his hole life to try and find someone more helpfull than a writer. I mean, he was loney, he woke her up to satisfy his primal needs..... a writer? seriously??
as i said if I were him, and ok, i wanted to have some sex after one year, i would try to find a woman, but someone who could help. i bet that in 5000 people someone is clever enough, no?

and im not saying that there are 3 people who know about hibernation techology. knowing about techonology it would be enough.. men didnt know stone + stone = fire. but they figure it out, no?

reply

I thought the ending was a bit too abrupt

reply

Yeah, i'm not sure about her waking up another guy but to have her be alone, and longing for human contact for a while, would have been a really interesting way to end it but you can tell this movie was really pitched as a romance and the studio just really wanted to make sure people left happy. Some who liked that kind of thing did, if you liked Interstellar and movies like then you didn't.

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.

No. That just sounds like a futuristic rip off of titanic

reply

I agree, however I personally only enjoyed the movie from like 45 minutes on-wards.
The rest was boring.

reply

I expected that actually but I don't mind happy endings.
