I don’t think we ever see her outside. (Well, yeah, she's in the garden, but so are the kids. I mean the outside world, so to speak.) And at the end, when they’re looking for “Bruce”, it’s only the father who’s searching outside the property, while she remains “barking” with the kids. (Wow, what an odd sentence.)

I'd ask you to play House, but you'd be a weird example for our kids.

There where a mention of the mother in the meeting that she suffered a savere illness. Possibly she was agoraphobic and her hasband protected her from the outsiders

I thought it was more his way to keep his colleague, who asked about his wife, away from his house.
