Were you bored too?

Hi,

Just saw this remake for the 1st time. I enjoyed the original many years ago, for all its cheesy acting/effects. But the remake left me bored. The 2012 film looked pretty. I'll give it that. Clearly drawing heavily on Blade Runner. But apart from that, I didn't care about a thing. I'm not even sure why.

I'm curious. Why did you find it boring? Alternately, if you enjoyed it, why did you find it engaging?

I've just watched it, I turned it off with 15 minutes to go when I realised I was just sat there totally bored. So I agree with the OP completely.

after watching in the theater my thought was "Jessica Biel could not save this no matter how hard she was trying"

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

Yes, it was terribly boring; like watching someone else play a video game. Seriously, how many times can they have people jump off ledges and escape "certain death" by landing on something below and still expect it to be suspenseful? The terrible dialogue and attempts to be profound were also painful (I felt embarrassed for the actors), as were the lame "homages" to Bladerunner and the original Total Recall movie (which is far, far better). I barely made it through this. A waste of 100+ million bucks!

Im with you, 50 minutes into it and I cant watch anymore. Like you, I dont know why I dont like it. I should. Looks good and alittle interesting, but all the chasing and fighting, I cant take it anymore. I dont care about these people, the terrorist or agents or whoever. Is it real or not real, blah, blah, blah, I dont care.

I think the director really achieved something in turning the source material into something so incredibly boring! Quite a feat!

One of the few things I found interesting were the police-bots (synths??) (and even they were pulled from other movies, kinda) but then at the end Hauser/Quaid defeated one so easily. Lame.

it looks like a demo of some lara croft or whatever video game that somebody else is playing. the limited non action moments are lame. c.farrell is 1/1000 of schwarzenegger not just in muscle but as a movie star. the humour is non existent. k.beckinsale is !wow! but it's no use.
no funny/weird scenes like the woman's disguise in the original movie.
just a lot of chaotic super speed jumping and shooting and nothing else.

The script writer and the director must have thought it was kkkkkk-cool to have scenes shooting between human and star-war-like robots every 2 minutes in the movie.

How boring!!

The original movie was superior to this one.

I would watch any movie with the two ridiculously beautiful actresses Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale both in it. But this is hard to watch till the end. What a waste !

saw this directly after the original ... they seem to have taken the original, then removed all its highlights, put the rest in a mixing machine and overlaid the outcome with CGI :((

Wow - and in the first place I wanted to watch only the remake as I am not so much a fan of Schwarzenegger - am glad that I did see the original... But had to watch "Midnight" to get over this dissapointment - haha - that was a fun movie!!
