Laughable to watch: night scenes are clearly filming in day.

In the night, everyone has clear long shadow.

Yes, we all know they filming in day to pretend night, but can't they erase the shadow? It's laughable to watch, in the movie Dune, the night scenes have no shadow.

When I watch the movie, I know they aren't really in post apocalyptic earth but I think it's just fine.

So you don't care the VFX looks fake in big budget action movies?

reply

I enjoyed the movie too.

So, if they had a McDonald's in a scene and a Starbucks coffee in one of the vehicle's cup holders, you'd be totally cool with it because you "know they aren't really in post apocalyptic earth?"

What if they had the trailers of the cast and crew just completely in the shot? You know they're not really the characters they're playing, they're just actors playing a part, so it would be totally cool to have that in the movie too?

reply

why would there not be McDonald's buildings and/or Starbucks cups left over on post apocalyptic earth?

I'll take deliberately obtuse for $500 Alex.

I thought the night scenes had an extra cool, haunting look. Really liked them. Plus, you could fully see everything going on, clearly...but yet in the dark. Some of the scenes had a pale, moon-glow look as well.

I’m not sure if that was by design, but I think it had a great effect and created a haunting, visceral mood. Especially the scene with the dead tree (as an anchor point)....and, the scene with the swamp people on stilts. Pretty fantastic. And I could care less if there were shadows. I’ve seen shadows from the moon and night sky. If you’re paying particular attention to the ANGLE and length of the shadows, you just need to suspend some disbelief and just roll with it.
