I wouldn't be surprised if the filmmakers have other characters die to create more tension and surprise. I think anyone (except maybe Bill and Bev) could be fair game. After all, they did it to Dick Hallorann in Kubrick's version of The Shining.
...I definitely cannot see them doing so in this film (or the next to be honest...but who knows!). Dick Hallorann isn't really a surprise...as Kubrick's version differed so vastly from the novel. But there's been such debate that this is a faithful (as far as possible) adaptation of the novel...so I can't really see them throwing in such a dramatic difference / such a drastic alteration of the plot? 😶
ELPHABA: Eleka Nahmen Nahmen Ah Tum Ah Tum Eleka Nahmen.
Yeah, like Elphie pointed out, Kubrick didn't really care about being faithful to the book (which is why Stephen King was so vocal about hating it through out the years.) These film makers love IT because they grew up with the book like we did. Changes have to be made, but I don't think they're going to go out of their way to kill of any of the Losers other than those who we know do bite it already.
It's like when that rumor was going around of Georgie 'going missing' as opposed to being killed. Though they were cryptic about it, I think the production pictures prove that Georgie "being around a little more" has to do with IT projecting his corpse to torture Bill (which, IT does just that in the book.)
Or, that MISSING photo of Richie Tozier. From the moment I saw it, I figured it was just the film makers messing with us. Richie likely sees it of himself as a way to ward him off from going further, one of IT's many, nasty tricks.
But unless this book was being adapted as a series, on a channel that would allow all the adult language and horrifying imagery, and even then, it's safe to say that any adaptation is going to have changes. I just don't see them going as far as to kill off our main seven just in attempt to be 'edgy' or 'unpredictable.'
...at least, I always thought that Pennywise was actually playing on the truth when Greta Bowie appears as a rotten corpse to Eddie (adult) and reveals that she died in a car accident?
I'm sure that was Greta? As didn't Eddie have a crush on her...? 😕
ELPHABA: Eleka Nahmen Nahmen Ah Tum Ah Tum Eleka Nahmen.
I don't really see them doing that with this myself. Sure, Dick Hallorann was killed off in Kubrick's Shining... But, Kubrick isn't adapting and directing this.
I actually thought The Mist was fairly faithful, but the novella doesn't even really have an ending. It just sort of trails off. The film goes further than that, and Stephen King said he loved the ending the film gave and wished he would have thought of it. Also, while the story doesn't explicitly say that's what's going to happen, it's suggested with the line of "there are four people and only three bullets." IT, however, is a complete story and has an ending that follows through.
Or maybe none of the losers die, cause in the adaptation of Cujo Tad Trenton also survived and Burt and Vicky didn't die in the film version of Children of the Corn.
See, your randon theory works both ways.
