Nationwide Clown Scares

WTF is going on with this sh!t??

reply

Best guess is that it has to do with this film. I've read that they are taking things too far now, but if that wasn't the case it's a great way to promote the film. However, it's not when these freaks are actually trying to lure children into the woods...

We will probably see alot more of this, the film isn't out for another year. Who knows how far it goes next.

reply

But why start it right now? Don't you think that's TOO early to market a movie that less than a year away? Usually marketing starts around when the trailers drop. We're not getting that no time soon. This whole rumour/theory thing stupid as hell.

reply

In my area some of these freaks are really taking it too far, trying to lure young teenage girls. One clown even touched a 11 year girl's breast before she could get away. This goes way beyond being associated with the movie.

reply

Viral marketing for that *beep* Cloverfield movie started 6 months before the film was released if I recall correctly. I think Blair Witch Project had a fake website up for a long time before the film came out.

reply

But that's my point. We have 10 MONTHS when the movie comes out. I can see them doing it 6-7 months prior but not now without no good legs and a teaser/official trailer yet. It's too soon.

Didn't one of those clowns take a bullet to the head? I hear he is in critical condition. We had it happen over here (UK) back in 2013 with the "Northampton Clown." Funnily enough, that clown had the mini series Pennywise costume.

There have also been a bunch of them that have been hanging out by the side of the road late at night. These morons are just asking to get run over!

Honestly? I think that a few of these idiots need to get the $hit kicked out of them.

That way, others will think twice before pulling this sh!t. "I was going to go out dressed as a 'killer clown' but a bunch of them got their asses kicked, maybe I should just stay in tonight!"

reply

At first I thought it may have to do with the filming of the movie. Heard that one clown was trying to get a little girl to go into the woods with him. That goes way beyond a movie tie in.

reply

When the film comes out, wonder if there will be and explosion of creepy clown-dressed weiredos out there doing rather disturbing things. Maybe even looking at the fictional Pennywise being their some sort of mentor. I hope to god there won't be any future John Wayne Gasey's over this film.

Come on, you'd have to be a retard to think these sightings have anything to do with this film.

There have been clips of people dressing up as a clown to scare people on the internet for years.

You are correct people have been dressing up as clowns for years it's called...... Halloween

Not just for Halloween. There have been clips on the internet for years of people dressing up as clowns to score others.

I'm not saying all the sightings have to do with these movies but I think we all can agree it started out as an innocent movie marketing scheme that spiraled out of control.

Speak for yourself, not once did I think that. So no, we can't all agree on that. Like I said before, you have to be some kind of retard to think that. New Line Cinema also stated they have nothing to do with this.

They are hired by the Insane Clown Posse. They have become irrelevant and wanted to come back into the spotlight so what better way then to let people dress up like insane clowns.

Genius!? Absolutely not. Today alone I've heard of one clown arrested after he chased some stranger in a park and one little boy who now refuses to attend school because of the clowns! If this was a publicity ploy (which I still don't believe it is) then it could be considered bad publicity (especially due to such negative impact on the public), and bad publicity will result in a bad reputation. And a bad reputation will only damage this particular film (don't really care for 31)...

This will be like the video nasties all over again...and I will not be surprised if someone (soon) decides to start a campaign to end all this silly business. The film industry will obviously be blamed. And mark my words, like the banning of 'video nasties' this campaign will most definitely start with declaring that clown-related media should be banned... 😶

Just seen a British news clip with three people complaining about the "clown craze." I know that if this film happened to be cut/censored/banned it would be in Britain. I own a few video nasties on pre-cert vhs and would hate to see some type of re-enactment of what happened all those years ago. But we don't have the vhs nasty era anymore, and I like to think we live in fairly lenient countries (talking mainly about US, UK, AUS). But my main point is: If they cut this film for theatres I'll be pissed, if they ban it because of some dickhead in a clown suit actually going too far and actually killing some kid I'll be more so! I just hope nothing too extreme with this clown sh#t will occur before the film hits screens, because I can already see the censors (and the Christian Activists) "licking their lips." And yes, I know for a fact that this phenomenon will get worse before the screening, and a 100% Pennywise related fad WILL happen whether we like it or not, and that may be bad news for the production - or good news (If for the popularity and Box Office $$$ of the film alone.)

Yeah, I wasn't serious when I said that about ICP. I was just trying to come up with even more stupid conspiracy theory than yours.

I guess reading is a little difficult for you... I clearly stated that my ICP reference was a joke.

Like I keep saying; I'm still waiting for one of these idiots to at the very least get the sh!t kicked out of them.

And probably run crying to the police to press charges and to a lawyer to sue the person who, rightfully, kicked their dumb ass for personal injury.

The clown scare finally hit close to home . My cousin said that this clown appeared by the window in her classroom and started shadow boxing. Apparently, he ended up being arrested.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .

reply

It's just reached Australia, not confirming it but the Network page has displayed a page of Pennywise (Curry), saying that people are "copying" IT. If this phenomenon is already happening less than a year away from the production they are going to clean up in Box office $$$. I've never seen this kind of publicity for a horror film before.

"That's it. It bit into his arm-pit. Like It wanted to eat him, man. Like It wanted to eat his heart."

reply

I'm sorry, but I do not believe that these silly incidents are related to It whatsoever...

...as I said before, people were scared of clowns before Pennywise and these fears have been played on for years before now! In fact...these scary clown stints have been happening for years before this film (even here in the UK!).

And to be honest, I would imagine that should this be a publicity stunt (which by the way, has been associated with Rob Zombie's 31 rather than It), it would be more likely to have a negative impact upon the film. I would say that the level of complaints about these clown incidents (and the effects on the public) would definitely have a damning effect on the release of this film...and therefore any other subsequent productions. 😞

reply

Maybe not now. But just wait to see just before the film comes out. It's only an assumption though.

Whether it's part of it or not, this can honestly make the film bank. Clowns are a relevant fear again, and not just from movies, in the real world. This film will literally scare the crap out of people, because clowns actually ARE terrorizing people. Not saying it's a good thing, just making a point.

reply

Not even just clowns, it'll make people scared of their own city, abandoned fridges, sewer pipes, abandoned houses, etc. I really can't wait to see how people react
