OTish - Best Film In a Horror Series

Of the following Horror series with at least three or more movies, which is your single favorite entry of each? Just cut and paste the list and replace with your choices and feel free to add any other series I forgot. I thought this would be fun to do with this remake of It coming out even if it's next year.

Indeed I did, designating it's slightly off-topic.

Mine are...

Friday the 13th part 6: Jason Lives

Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers (I do love the originAl equally)

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors (Again, The original is on par)

Saw (Not a fan of these so I can't say)

Scream

Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn (1 and Army of Darkness are also great)

Phantasm (Not a huge fan)

Alien (and Aliens, with the Assembly Cut of 3 as a close second)

Predator

Hellraiser (I count Hellraiser II as a proper continuation of the first)

Childs Play

The Texts Chainsaw Massacre (Not a huge fan)

Final Destination (Fun movies, but again, I'm not a big fan)

Insidious

The Conjuring

The Purge (Not a fan)

Paranormal Activity (The most dire movie I've ever seen)

I love horror movies with a passion, but I find a good horror novel is more effective. For me a book stays in the psyche a lot longer, that's why I love IT. Possibly the most a story has ever stayed with me, and I keep going back to it year after year.

Also, before anyone else says it, this isn't a remake of the 1900 mini series. It is a completely new adaption of the novel. :)

Bold choice picking Predator 2.

I'm one of the few.

From the ones you listed, I gotta say the first Scream movie, Tremors and Part 2 of Evil Dead. Maybe because those flicks all have a great sense of humour about them. On that note, I also LOVED "Tucker and Dale VS Evil". Although one might argue that it doesn't qualify as horror at all, but then does Tremors?

Horror-Comedies is what those would fall under.

In my opinion, the best horror film ever made was the original Poltergeist. The film was scary as heck, without being exceedingly bloody.

So far, so good.

reply

What do you think is the best installment of the series listed in the original post?

reply

I'm generally not a big fan of slasher films, but I do like satire, so I'd have to pick the Scream series. I couldn't tell you which film was which, though, but they scared me, and made me laugh at the same time!

I honestly haven't seen most of the films you named!

A lot of them are definitely good series to get into for the first time if you're new to some of them.

reply

The recent Blair Witch movie was okay, nothing special. Not seen the second film but between this and the original I probably enjoyed this one slightly more.
