Henry Bowers' portrayal in this adaptation, was actually pretty good

Unlike in the novel or miniseries, you kinda feel sorry for him. Sure, he's still pretty much a bully like his other counterparts, but this version brings him to a more sympathetic light. They actually give him proper character development, which is the least I can say about his generic miniseries counterpart, who is just there with his goons, to torment the losers and nothing else. They actually made him more human, like when his dad was tormenting him in front of his friends, you actually see him in shake in fear, unlike his douchebag counterparts from the novel and miniseries. Don't get me wrong, he still did pretty bad things like carve part of his name with his pocketknife into Ben's stomach and physically berates Mike, but at least he was more poetic, even to the point of giving Bill a break, due to his brother's disappearance and murder. His novel and miniseries incarnations didn't give a shit, whatsoever! To me, his novel and miniseries incarnations were way more evil. This doesn't make him any better in the 2017 version; he's still a bad kid, but at least he has some humanity in him. I actually expected them to make him way more brutal and closer to his portrayal in the novel. But instead, we got a much more tamer incarnation of his character. Not gonna argue, right there. I'm so tired of seeing 1-dimensional bullies in fictional media.

He had zero motivation.

His Dad "tormenting" him was just a cop putting his juvenile delinquent son in his place.

In the books, Henry's Dad is a physically abusive, unemployed, racist drunk who basically brainwashes the same qualities into his son.

LOL! This reminds me of poster on the "13 Reasons Why" board saying that a serial rapist character had moments when he was "genuinely nice guy".
