I still do not get it. Why do they all float?

I saw from one response posted on youtube that it was because you were dead (assuming that IT was referring to your soul).

I think the clown just likes the innocence and non wickedness Georgie shows in that moment and It just continues using the quote throughout the story.

Right. Since it was a sewer and he killed you, you would float.

Idk..it had taken me a while to figure that out.

I mean, just from the quote itself, I was trying to make a connection with the balloon and trying to think "If he has a balloon, does that make him float? So that means if Georgie has a balloon, he floats down there?"

One balloon = human boy float?

Then after figuring from that one comment on youtube, writing about how it would make sense if IT actually killed the boy, I thought "Oh so his spirit would be floating because he is dead."

The whole movie was confusing. I think you had to get the jokes at the time it was made. You know how they say that newer generations would have a hard time getting old humor? I am not sure if it was. The movie was definitely odd with dead lights and the shape shifting thing IT turns into and how IT got around. Thing was, even the movie did not do a well enough job to describe IT because IT could virtually be anything.

I loved the original, it was one of the best Stephen King movies, still miss John Ritter.
