Would Dexter have been convicted of being the Bay Harbor Butcher?

There definitely wasn't enough to convict him of Matt.

We've got the wheel marks and the fact that Dexter is from Miami, but that's about it. I can't recall what all Laguerta had for evidence, but Bautista definitely would bring that.

It feels like a bit of a stretch based on what we have from this show alone, I think it'd be tough to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

This is assuming he didn't kill the Coach, of course.

The whole story line with Bautista was messed up. Bautista was dexters biggest defender and best friend.

The whole BHB storyline getting revived was ridiculous and probably the worst part of the show.

The investigation was over in Season 2. The evidence was destroyed by Dexter himself. Everyone that knew he was the BHB was dead. More importantly, it was a closed case and Doakes took the blame.

That some random police officer from a small town in upstate New York would figure it out 10-15 years after the fact makes no sense.
