If you didn't enjoy the movie. The problem isn't deadpool. It's you.

butthurt posters need to get over themselves and realize that it isn't a fluke this movie was a major box office hit. Now go vote for Shrillary you pampered, entitled, selfie-obsessed, cry-babies.

And for Gods sakes don't rent Blazing Saddles. It would literally kill you snowflakes.

Excellent posts.

No joke, someone recently said they would have liked Saving Private Ryan if it wouldn't have been so violent. 

I love Blazing Saddles. Possibly from before you were born as your post doesn't demonstrate a high level of maturity, and I can only hope you're quite young so will grow out of it. (If you're my age and you still think and communicate like that............my sympathies for your family and employers.)

I thought Deadpool was boring. Funny occasionally, but not enough to make up for being boring.

reply

Another one who thought it was boring (and who lives Blazing Saddles). Hell, I fell asleep partway through and had to back it up. That's never a good sign. Special effects and wisecracks does not a movie make.

I didn't much care for RR in this. His characterization was whiny and petulant. There were some mildly humorous parts, but he got tiresome very quickly.

reply

I love how all this talk about it being overrated and "mildly humorous" happens almost a year after the movie came out when all the excitement and praise has waned a little and it's easy to take pot shots at it. Everyone just loves to tear things down that were successful, probably because they think it makes them sound edgy and hip. When the fact is that they're just wrong.

The freedom and fun in this movie was just infectious. It perfectly realized the character, even though I haven't read any of the comics but the creator of the character said it did so I'll take his word on it. It set itself apart from a lot of the standard, formulaic superhero films and told the story the way it should've been told.

Was it perfect? No. But it was ridiculous entertaining which is what I wanted from it. And now that it's made f@#k-tons of money, it's going to get a sequel and all slights people are making are basically them just pissing in the wind.

reply

It could have used a bit more of the stuff that made it great, but it was great. Not in a powerful addition to global cinema, but as a quirky addition to the superhero genre. The end scene was kinda meh, very Marvel, but for the most part it was a great superhero film.

I'm older than most, seen more films than nearly all, am possibly not as much of an anachronism as some older posters in here claiming age as some sort of virtue, and done a few years of pointless research and analysis of film. But that doesn't disqualify some geriatric's opinion that BS was great cinema, and DP was just meh...

Comedy is far too subjective to disqualify because of ones personal taste.

Yeah all those Marvel movies that end with guys get their heads chopped off, characters having hallucinations of cartoon characters, guys talking sh@# while trying to kill each other. Yup....those Marvel movies are a dime a dozen. If you meant because they had a big action set piece at the end then that goes for virtually every action movie ever made.

I didn't say having a different taste in comedy disqualifies you, but if you didn't find this movie funny then I'd say your in the minority.

reply

If you thought that last scene was bigger and better than the first fight scene you're nuts. And it was all about Dead Pool = part of Marvel ensemble for future films. So yeah, very Marvel.

The hallucination "you're an *beep* bit was great, and there were a few bits, but compared to the rest of the film it was pretty obligatory-meh-Marvel-closure.

My remarks are made "almost a year after the movie came out" because I just saw it (free preview on one of the pay channels).

What...I should've remarked a year ago with, "I haven't seen this, but it's awesome!?" The funny thing is, we go out to very, very few movies, so we make it a special occasion kind of thing, and when Deadpool was released, it was at the top of our list for an in-cinema watching. The trailer and all the clips making the rounds promised a fun, funny, adult experience.

Circumstances prevented that and after finally seeing the movie, which we both found more than a little ho-hum, we were glad we didn't go out for this one.

reply

Probably a studio troll who wants people to spend money on this movie.
I saw it for "free" on HBOnow because I ran out of other things to see ...
I was not impressed. I feel bad for the kids in this generation whose minds
are filled this garbage.

Way to admit you don't know what you are talking about.

Glad there is someone who has the guts to stand up to the annoying OP. This movie was idiotic, the only thing to distinguish it was the constant level of nasty, insulting and over the top violence. I like threads like this because it makes it easy to add to my IGNORE list. I rate this movie 4/10, and maybe that is too high.

I loved the movie, but I can't stand your post. Way to turn a matter of personal taste -- whether someone likes Deadpool -- into a matter of political motivations. Your post is a far more accurate assessment of you than it is of people who like or don't like Deadpool.

Deadpool has humor and intelligence in his insults. Yours are just mean and shallow. Way to take a discussion of the most fun movie I've seen in ages and turn it into the opposite of fun.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Someone has a different opinion and the OP's reaction is to lash out like a child and insult them for it? The OP does know that this is an R rated movie right? I honestly question his age based on such a silly, immature post. Perhaps he just got ahold of a movie he was too young to handle, loved it blindly, then took his insecurities out on anyone who disagreed with him. Kids today XD

I'm from a different era - probably most of you here are younger than me - .

I loved Blazing Saddles - and I thought Deadpool was a cute movie ...

I do not see the parallel... these are two completely different movies ...

As for Deadpool - I coulda done without the F-words and the rather egregious stripper-bar scene -
maybe the movie would have been suitable for a wider audience - (although many people let children of all ages watch things they shouldn't see or even hear regardless of the rating)

I discussed this with a friend who knows the comics and how all these movies are related - or produced differntly etc - he said 'that is' Deadpools world so the scene HAD to be there ...

I guess we can agree to disagree ...

Now I despise the modern social justice warriors as well but that really does not have anything to do with Deadpool. Went to see the film in theaters and thought it was bad. The jokes themselves aren't really anything to write home about but there are many other issues. Visually the film is very forgettable, the action is not well done, there is no tension in the film, there is not a single memorable scene in the film and the list goes on and on.

Deadpool is to me certainly one of the most overrated movies of IMDB. 8.1, really? To warrant such a score the film would have to at the very least have a couple of things about it that is outstanding but there is none.

Or maybe people don't want to watch 2 hours of Reynolds mugging for the camera.
i told you not to stop, now lets go - Apocalypse Now

This message has been brought to you by a self-proclaimed 'thick skinned' warrior. Or in other words, a proud white male belonging to the republican party who will find any excuse to complain, complain, and complain about his political opponents. Triggered so much by what you call the naysayers of this movie (to his mind, f@ggot SJW's), as a result OP had to create a safe space so he and his fellow confederate flag waving, women should know their place, black lives matters criticizing, pathological-lying-tantrum-throwing-orange-con man loving buddies could pat themselves on their macho butts. That's right, only tough-talking people belonging to a certain group are capable of appreciating a MOVIE made by Hollywood, seen as the LAND of LIBERALS by conservatives. Nope, there's no other logical reason to dislike this movie.

What? Was any of that inaccurate? Still likely more truthful than your projecting and "Holy cliche liberal dissing, Batman!" post. But hey, you got some of those just like you to predictable agree with you, so give yourself a round of applause big boy! What's that? Richy Bitch was offended again by the latest spot-on impression of him by Alec Baldwin? Tee-hee...

You want something corny? You got it!

Ok. Is that all what you have to say?
Cuz I didn't like it. What's next?
