Anyone

seen this?

I just watched it tonight. It was OK, nothing special, even a little disappointing IMO.

Have you seen it?

reply

No. The title is intriguing, so I wanted to hear what others thought of it.

If you have some time to kill you might want to see it. Maybe you'll like it better than I did.

reply

Same, it wasn't bad but didn't do much for me. Similar to a lot of other, often superior, films.

I watched it on Shudder and loved it. It is atmospheric and kind of confusing (in a good way) and everything kind of fits together at the end. The wife loved it as well, but mostly because of the lack of gore I think. The entire film has a creepy vibe.

reply

I like creepy.

It tries to be a character-driven folk-horror. And fails at being either character-driven or folk-horror.
The plot is not slow-burn, just slow. But despite its pacing, the characters and plot still feel half-baked.
The twist, if you can call it that, seems like just another thing that happens in the movie.
I'm surprised this movie has as high of a rating it does on imdb.

Just watched it. Quite liked it. I don't understand anyone calling this "slow". It's deliberate, maybe, taking time to breath and unfold to engender a deeper investment, but hardly slow. There's absolutely no lull in the story, no wasted scenes. I suspect many of those with negative reactions are so conditioned for a quick fix that anything requiring even a modicum of viewing effort is deemed "slow". Welcome to the dumbing down and "juvenilization" of society. However, art and entertainment are subjective, so some portion of those who came away disappointed did so for other reasons, e.g. perhaps they weren't in the right mood, they didn't connect with it for some reason, etc.
