This is a comfort show but this is what I really think...

Modern Family imo, is a comfort show but it's not necessarily good. There are some flaws and I've laughed out loud as much as I b*tched about this series.

First of all, I think half of the actors are well cast, while the other's are not.

Phil Dumphy is my favorite character and probably the main reason why I'm still watching. Something about his voice, I find very comforting. Plus, I'm a real estate enthusiast and plan to eventually get into real estate myself. In a way, he kinda reminds me of my fiance but my fiance is a lot smarter. ;-) Also Senior Phil Dumphy (Phil's dad) is cast well, I've seen that actor in comedies before but he looks a lot like an older Phil.

Claire Dumphy and the eldest daughter (Sarah Hyland) are both gorgeous women! I know Sophia Vagara is supposed to be the spice of the show, but the actress who plays Claire, as well as Sarah Hyland are both super Hot, if you ask me. I really like the way the actress who plays Claire acts, always seeming uncomfortable and awkward... plus her love for white wine, yes she has her vices. :)

As for Gloria aka Sophia V., I personally never liked that actress all that much. She's done a few scenes where I thought her character seemed somewhat cute (exp. "How much is that doggy in the window?" in the Vegas episode). But her accent drives me insane! I know it sounds super fake, my fiance can't even watch it. I have to turn it down whenever she speaks... and I'm not even sure if her accent is fake, because I've heard her speak in real life and her accent is so thick, I couldn't even understand her. Personally, I wish they chose a different spicy, latina to play Jay's wife. She's attractive (to traditional standards) although I actually think she looks much older than she is in real life. Sophia V. is 44 in real life, apparently many people think she looks like she's in her late 30's. But tbh, from season one, I thought she was pushing 50. Something about her voice and assuming she's had hollywood plastic surgery to keep her young, I just assumed she was about 50 years old, who's keeping up her looks.. I'm 32 years old, she looks 15-20 years older than me.

And of course, I must address Cam and Mitch... I know this is a family show and it probably comes on ABC or something, but they try too hard to act like stereotypical gays and I don't like it. I am a bisexual female, my fiance is a bisexual male (you would never know) and if I had friends, I would roll with the lgbt community... I've met and known many gay men and gay couples. Yes, a lot of them are flamboyant and I love it! Mitch and Cam are more like pansy little snobs, and it's too stereotypical and not how most gay couples act. There's no depth to them, no chemistry, and I can't recall a time when they were ever intimate. Why are they even together?? Other than sharing a child together, they don't seem like a couple who would get together. The actors who play Mitch and Cam don't seem to have any chemistry together. I know they need to keep the show lighthearted and family friendly, but they should have at least cast actors who are more believable together. Sometimes, it just makes me cringe...

Overall, I give the show a 6 out of 10. Mainly because I can't stop watching it, even though I wouldn't necessarily say I like it.. Do I enjoy it? YES. Does it Entertain me?? YES. Would I recommend it or say I like the show?? Not really... and yes, in some cases liking something and enjoying something can be different. :)

My biggest peeves on this show is how most of the characters are entitled, stuck up, elitist snobs, etc... Hehe. Mitch and Cam apparently LOVE each other but they don't seem to respect each other, at all! Although I don't really like Cam, Mitch doesn't give him much respect. He won't even let him talk about his clowning days and from habits I've seen on the show, I wouldn't be surprised if Mitch burned all of Fizbo's former clowning gear. Mitch doesn't even like Cam to talk about Missouri, which is where Cam come's from. He just rolls his eyes and treats Cam like an idiot! Those are just some examples, I've seen Cam do some shi'it.ty stuff too, although for comedic value, if this was a couple in real life, they wouldn't last a month. They disrespect each other way too much...

And then there's Jay, and the way he treats Gloria. He doesn't want anything in the house that's Columbian, and I know he brought it up in a later episode, but if you love someone and you marry that person, if their native language is something other than English and although they're now an american citizen and they might even speak excellent english,... out of respect, if you love someone who you plan to spend your life with, you should learn your partners native language, or at least try to. You might not need to speak it, but it's called respect! Jay should have took spanish lessons much earlier, without complaining about it. It's not just that, but in early season's he acts like he hate's everything about Gloria's culture, and Columbia is very much in Gloria's blood and although I can't recall an example now, in earlier seasons, Jay's said things (I'm sure it was for comedic value) to Gloria, that completely dissed Columbia and her culture. If this was real life, and if she has any self-respect and wasn't just in it for his $$, she would have divorced him a long time ago. I really like cruel, dry and vulgar humor, but Jay has said things about Columbia and Gloria's culture, that even shocked me. I know it's a tv show and even at the time, I laughed... That's what they were going for. But this is a family of rich snobs, the only family I even like, are the Dumphy's. And Lily's a little cutie. =)
