they rarely talk about sex

So much of tv is people talking about sex, people having sex, or crude jokes about sex.

how nice that this show manages to write hilarious episodes about other subjects.

reply

Yeah, it's like, not everybody talks sex like soulless, aimless tarts. It's amazing what subjects are available when you take it higher than being descendants of apes who's highest ascension is not sounding racist or not offending anybody, unless you have a different world view.

reply

I love that my kids can watch this with me and I don't really have to worry about content. The subjects they do touch on (like Brad being gay) are subtle. I love The Middle.

reply

I thought the way they handled the episode where Brad said he was gay was very well done.

reply

Was this recent? I mostly watch reruns so I missed it! Brad is great.

reply

I know. I watched 2 broke girls when it first came on, but that didn't last long because of all the nasty talk in it. I have a teenage daughter, and I would be embarrassed because of the content of that show if she was watching it with me.

If you think your "teenage daughter" hasn't already heard all the stuff on Two Broke Girls, you're living in a dream world.

That may be, but as a parent, but as a parent, you shouldn't act like it's okay to talk that way. And it's not even a moral thing but more of a self-respect thing.

I agree, alanjobe. Are those names in your signature your kids? Is that how you created your user name? Very creative.

Yes, those are my kids and that's how I came up with my username. You can't believe how many people think my name is Alan. LOL

lol I'm sure you get that a lot. I had a similar user name years ago on a site where I used the acronym BOB and a few other words. I was known as Bob the whole time I used the site. Gabby isn't my name either. It's the name of my favorite childhood doll. Lane isn't my last name, I just thought Gabby Lane sounded good together. I wouldn't feel safe using my real name online anyway.

I'm no prude but I can't stand 2 Broke Girls either. I used to watch it also but it just got so repetitive and bad. It's the same lame stupid lines over and over. The middle is awesome and they don't have to talk about sex and slam everyone to be funny.

reply

I agree 100%. It's the lazy writers gag. I'm young(is) 30, and find it so cliché that it's an overused bore when they retort to sex jokes, and even needless sex scenes.

reply

They don't oversaturate fart jokes or sex innuendos very much. So when they toss in one it actually has some impact and is funny.

This is one of the many reasons we love the show. We can watch it together as a family.

reply

My family just started watching the show. Family introduced us to it and we love it.

It is refreshing to see a show that is not crude. It is a change.
