Okay, I am not cool with portrayal of witches

As a modern day Wiccan, I thought we had finally done away with the whole concept of witches making pacts with Satan, as Satan is and has always been a Christian concept. We don't make pacts with things we don't believe in. At what point will that please go away and never rear its head again? Sooooo, it kind of nullifies my buying into anything else they have to say.

I"m a bitey, Mad Lady or Sexy, because biting is like kissing except there's a winner.

Unfortunately it will probably never will go away. There are far too many ppl who choose to stay ignorant to the differences between the religion in which u practice & those who follow Satan. It is my belief that ur religion honors Mother Earth & the forces that interact with us as humans. If I am in error I do apologize sincerely. I always thought it was much like the Native Americans beliefs with a bit of Buddhism added. Honor the Earth & elements & u walk blessed by the Earth & elements. Hollywood is much easier to believe as truth than to pick up a book or look something up online & get truly informed. Just my thoughts.

So if you practice magic it is impossible to believe in satanic forces because religion and witchcraft are mutually exclusive? Is that a new law?

Ya Kirk-loving Spocksucker!

reply

Christianity and witchcraft are mutually exclusive, yes.

reply

If witchcraft and Christianity are mutually exclusive, how come witchcraft is mentioned so, so many times in the Bible?
The Bible/Christianity are thousands of years old. Wicca is like, what...100?
It would seem that Christianity has had the whole "witchcraft = evil" thing on lockdown for at least 1900 years before Wicca was even a thing.

If they're intertwined for thousands of years?

OP just seems like they thirst for ze attention.

I never heard of a satanist, not the atheist kind but the other kind of Satanist, call themselves witches.

So yeah, it's insulting to satanists, witches, and anyone who is upset about the women who were murdered by Christians for petty reasons in the name of destroying witches for god.

I like the movie overall. It was pretty scary, but the whole Satan and god is real, this is real, a witch really did all this with Stan's power spiel is *beep*

I used to be wiccan, and these movies really would offend me. I get it. You don't want people insulting your beliefs for fun, making you out to be evil. Those offensive beliefs have gotten people killed. But many Christians lap this *beep* up. Apparently it's okay to demonize Muslims, Witches, Jews, etc because this is a "Christian nation" and some Christians think they can get away with being bigots to anyone.

Totally agree with you.

reply

Okay. It's a movie made to entertain and make money. It was moderately successful as both.

reply

blah blah blah I need attention blah blah blah

reply

thank god someone said it.

reply

Hate to break it to ya but wiccans aren't the only witches

reply

Newsflash to the two top posters, there HAVE been dark witches.

reply

And there are African witches proven to be cutting off the limbs of albinos to make 'prosperity blessings' in the modern age. What's your point? evil witches have been and are real. Whether they have magic or not is the only thing up for debate.

"what is your major malfunction numbnuts?!!

reply

Well guess what? You aren't going to see a supernatural horror movie based on fact. This stuff doesn't exist. ANY fiction of this sort is going to contain stuff that's known to be false.

Hell, they also talk about 'upside down crosses' as though it was a satanic symbol when in fact the inverted cross is the cross of St Peter (i.e., the symbol of the Pope).

reply

It is insane how inverted crosses have both a Christian AND satanic symbology. You can't mistake an inverted pentagram, though!
