i will read the article later at work, but maybe they are some modern college kids dressed up or something. i can picture a scene though if they do time travel, the girl says "isn't it amazing that we have time traveled?" and indy could say "honey, nothing surprises me anymore."

Heard about this rumour months ago and much worse regarding Indy.

It's certainly possibly like that Indy ripoff movie SKY PIRATES. Or as Campea suggested, it's for a flashback scene.
