Ford missing from most of the movie?

Besides the deaging scenes... in which I guess they use someone else's body and "paste" Ford's face on top of it, you could also notice throughout Ford's digital face "pasted" on top of a stunt double's body - even when in the movie's "present day" action scenes like the horse riding/parade/subway chase... but it happens often.

I know the man is 80, but this was so distracting.

I believe he was involved in an injury which kept him from shooting in the middle of production so I guess they decided instead of delaying production to go this route or was it because of his age he's not able to do the stunts anymore... or both?

I also don't get all the talk about the deaging being the best ever-unnoticeable... to me it still stands out like a sore thumb and looks like a damn video game.

With evolving AI technology maybe even in death Ford can still live on screen using face swap, maybe need to buy the rights of using his face and identity though.

Yes, you are right. The deaging scenes are still a work in progress. Maybe there will be a special edition in the future? Who knows.

Sometimes it's just a stunt double wearing a Harrison Ford mask, like when the horse goes down the stairs to the subway.

Ford has always had a stuntman do most of the heavy stunts. No matter what rumors people have heard Ford Himself has always said this. He did much of the De-aging scenes himself including the hat punch and interrogation scene. Of course he wasn't running on top of the train. At 78 (his age during filming) that most likely would have ended up seriously injuring him.
