first movie shot in space - on the international space station

Supposedly T. Cruise will shoot the 2nd one - same location.

Trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKBKmaOFlsg

Seems like boring crap, to be honest.

I've seen several films filmed on the ground (earth), while being about the space station - and they looked better. Reason being, you got way more space for the camera/actors - it's not a working station, so you don't have to be so cautious. So - just looking at the storyline and the scenes in the trailer - I think they totally blew the opportunity. Should have had aliens - or maybe some sort of conflict between the russians/american astronauts (perhaps after seeing the planet go off). Then again - they only sent one actress and director to space - everything else was done by the actual astronauts on site.

Russian reviewers say the film sucked arse. The duration of the film is nearly 3 hours, while the scenes from the space station last 35 minutes - in other words, lots of filler material.

I suspect the difficulty of shooting a film on space station is so great that most of the scenes for Cruise's film will also be shot on the ground - SFX studio, if necessary. He's going to the space station just for the sake of saying 'been there', rather than any meaningful shooting. Space station is way too small - flights are too expensive - not where you want to shoot films.
