other franchises that went back to original chronology after a reboot?

Blomkamps new Robocop is going to do 'a Halloween' and ignore the sequels & reboot and do a direct sequel to Robo'87

Terminator 6 is sort of doing it in wiping the sequels 345 and bring back female lead after supposed death (but there was no previous reboot although T4 and 5 were sort of promoted as being reboots but weren't)

Superman Returns ignored the previous sequels to do a direct sequel to Superman I (or II depending on how you look at it).. there was also Never Say Never Again but that exists in an alternate oneoff chronology (not part of the EON series different M, Q, Moneypenny etc) but which was kind of like what HW did

King Conan that was supposed to happen with Arnie after the failed remake and to a lesser extent Blomkamps Alien 5 that was supposed to happen after the prequels (but no reboots) and like HW would've resurrected the lead actress.. I guess both of those could still happen especially after the huge success of HW.

Maybe they should do Batman next and bring back Keaton and Burton ?

Not that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series was very linear when it comes to the sequels and their storylines in the first place, but Texas Chainsaw 3D was a direct sequel to the original. Not quite the scale of Halloween but it ignored 3 sequels as well as the remake and its sequel.

And now the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre did that yet again. Ignoring Texas Chainsaw 3D and whatever timeline Leatherface '14 was in.
