Really Bad, Low-Budget and Pretentious
One of the worst movies I have ever seen. The production values were terrible. The stately mansion that was supposed to be a stand-in for “plantation-style” white privilege looked nearly abandoned and bankrupt in every interior scene. The gardens that were supposed to portray the expert skill of the “master gardener” looked like overgrown brush. The only closeup of “horticulture” showed the gardeners planting what looks to be a Home Depot perennial. Here’s how “undergrad film school” the story was: the culminating sex scene shows the naked white supremacist metaphorically doing the Black Lives Matter kneel before the upright, scolding biracial girl, only doing so while giving her oral sex (complete with sloppy mouth noises). And her shallow wrestling over the ethical question of having sex with a repenting Aryan gang member is resolved with her farcical line, “but I really want to take my clothes off….” It’s hard to imagine such a tacky, low-budget movie could also be so pretentious.
