Normally I would have looked forward to seeing Frank Langella play Roderick Usher in a Poe adaptation. But I read further on that Roderick Usher in this 8 episode series is "the towering patriarch of the Usher Dynasty." Poe's Roderick Usher is a confused and fearful individual who is controlled by the family mansion and the family curse. He's is dependent on his twin sister Madeline every bit as much as she is dependent on him so they are equals. Poe's Roderick Usher doesn't tower over anything or anybody and is hardly patriarchal so I'm wondering how much this long-winded new series has to do with Poe's short story?
