Not necessary. Between the boss and the doctor, they’re going to find Sam any minute. Just investigating the boss’s death will lead them to Sam.

there was no connection between sam and the doctor otherwise the police would have come looking.

this series never covered the investigation into the doctor's disappearance at all. they showed the son putting up pictures outside.
