Does Mr Hanks really think we are THAT disconnected?

It was SO apparent that Roberts wasn't in the classroom with the students in some of the classroom scenes. When they were supposed to be interacting with each other (students and teacher)- she (Roberts) appears to be "acting" to the wall.
Mr Hanks coulda, shoulda (wish he woulda) done better than this...
If it was because she had other commitments, Hanks should have not used her or rescheduled shooting. If he thinks using her in his movie was more important than his own reputation as a director, he is sorely mistaken.
LOVE his acting, but this very telling misstep tells me that he's not a serious director.
Anyway, it REALLY got up my nose!
