After being left with an extremely bad taste in my mouth from the hyper-conservative, horrendously made Facing the Giants, I have to say I actually got very invested int his film. The acting was often flat, especially from AnnaSophia Robb, and certain parts of the film were unrealistic, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.

I don't go out of my way to watch "Christian faith " films or avoid them. But if you find Bethany Hamilton an interesting character and you're going to make a film about her, it's obviously going to be difficult, even silly, to avoid references to her strong Christian faith.
I thought this film demonstrated hers and her family's religious commitments, without overdoing the point.🐭
