Leave the wreckage of the jet (at night) where they had shelter inside the jet fuselage which could have been fortified and which would have been found in a couple days at most via the jet's transponders and beacon for the unknown woods with zero shelter and without any type of survival gear-tents-sleeping bags.

Also, if I know there are predatory wolves on my ass, me and everyone in the group would be carrying long sharpened tree branches (I believe these are called spears) everywhere we went. Instead Neeson's character leads the team to their death and then opts to go mano a mano against the alpha wolf.
