I used to respect this actresses work , but she totally ruined this film for me with her horribly 'made over' face Why can't performers grow old gracefully - they lose a great part of their work by freezing their faces . Anyone agree with me ?
She was wearing prosthetics, makeup, etc. to look that way. She is still a very beautiful woman, if you watch any of the "making of" featurettes about this movie.

shareI never found her attractive, not even in her "sexy" role in Fatal Attraction (I think she was already in her 30s by then), but she's a good actress. Some men find those matronly sort of women attractive, whatever floats your boat I guess.
Whilst it irks me when plainly unattractive actresses (like Kirsten Dunst) are cast as "babes" nothing is worse than pretty bimbos in their early 20s with no formal acting training or talent land plum roles in movies.

Glenn Close's face is not difficult to ''make over'' , she is masculine looking, an unattractive woman. However this is not impotant, considering GC is unique in her style for performing bizarre characters. That's what counts in cinema: Talent.
I doubt they had to go out of their way to make her look like a man, and creepy, because Glenn Close is all of that already.
No, I don't agree with you. Glen was magnificent in this film.. probably should have even won the Oscar IMO, and I DON'T think she has had anything done to her face, besides probably temporary prosthetics for this role, of course.

I agree that Close should have won the Oscar. And having just watched the film, any discussion about how "hot" anyone in this film may or may not be seems incredibly superficial and the movie has clearly gone completely over the heads of anyone thinking this way.
