This is basically a rip off of Alan Rudolph's 'The Moderns'

Much like MiP, The Moderns is also a love story, told in a surreal manner, where the main character encounters the likes of Hemingway, Alice B. Toklas, Gertrude Stein, F. Scott Fitzgerald etc. It's the same movie only shot 23 years earlier.

"Midnight in Paris" is based on Allen's own short story, "A Twenties Memory", publshed in 1971:

Alan Rudolph ripped off "A Twenties Memory". Basically.

Key word here is "basically." 

I just watched MIP trailer. Trying to decide if I want to watch the film.
I didn't see any similarities to "the Moderns" in the trailer.
Is this film worth watching? I'm not a fan of woody Allen neurotic dialog

I think it's a rather charming film. Will be of particular interest if you like the 1920s characters the hero encounters. It's not as funny as some of his other films, but is whimsical and amusing.
