Inez was the biggest C*UNT!!!!

I saw this movie just a while ago and couldn't believe how horrible she was. When she shushed Gil while they were at the museum, I wish Woody Allen would've written in a slap across her face for it. The bearded know-it-all needed a slap too.

A standard, castrating woman, who is trying to rob her husband of all joy. Lots of these women around. They just want money, security, children, and a man to provide for them and leave a fat life insurance policy when the husband drops.

Agreed!

Standard "Ms. Wrong" character, the sort of awful significant other who's just in the script to make the real love interest look good.

Folks, repeat after me. This is ... f-i-c-t-i-o-n. Characters' personalities are supposed to get your attention. And from your comments, that is exactly what Allen and McAdams accomplished. If every character was written as likeable, most films would be incredibly boring and financially unsuccessful. When you win an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Original Screenplay, let us know.

reply

Yeah, given how likable McAdams generally is, it's a testament to her acting that Inez came off as so horrible.

reply

She is castrating. So are her parents. I think that it's screenwriting shorthand so that it justifies Gil wanting to get away from all of them and escaping into his fantasy world.
