The doughnuts
We know that Fran is socially awkward and has closed herself off to people. The scene where he buys doughnuts for the office is her attempt to connect or at least melt the iceberg. It is telling that she makes a startling revelation(No spoliers) to Robert after she apologises to him. It is not an easy thing to tell someone. Great performance from Daisy Ridley.
