It would be great, but I don't see it happening in a main stream animated feature for families in the US at this time. Maybe someday. Baby steps.
sharewell one of the main characters in Paranoram was gay the jock

Yeah, I heard that. Oddly enough, I didn't even notice it when I watched that movie. I don't really consider Paranorman as main stream as the works put out by Disney, Pixar, or Dreamworks. While Dreamworks did make Gobber gay, I think it'll be a while before we see a gay romance in one of their films because of the risks to revenue.
shareMe neither but it shouldnt be surprising and all. This is 2015 or 16. Oh I know i know
which sucks

:/ We live in such a strange world. There are people who embrace all with open arms and there are those who accept gays and trans in theory, but still struggle with accepting them in real life. The latter are on the edge of acceptance. And then you have those who are simply threatened by anyone different. Some hide behind religion. Weird, weird world.
Baby steps. Gobber is gay - it's a start.

Wow - I had heard about this, but it's the first time I've seen it myself. Any gay who is intolerant of trans has lost all their arguments for fair treatment and equality.
It's not a choice, any more than being gay is a choice.
Show some respect, man.

Disabled does not mean diseased.
Gay is not a choice.
Trans is not a choice.
You want to be king of the hill and not share the top with anyone else.
You claim no one understands a gay teen? Try being a trans teen. Do you think they are understood any better? Clearly not since you don't even get those outside the binary.
Who are targeted the most for bullying? Who are more likely to commit suicide? Trans. Because people cling to this idea that it's a "choice" and that they are deviants.
There are lots of stupid stereotypes out there. Denouncing those who are different simply reaffirms many of them.

What people don't understand is that people who cannot accept gays, or trannies, and who "hide behind religion" have every bit as much right to believe what they do as gays and trannies do. People seem to put all the importance onto the side of gays but not care that such lifestyles are deeply against others religion. Whose religion is most important to them. Trying to force such people into some kind of public acceptance is never going to happen and shouldn't.
shareIt isn't a "lifestyle choice". What religious people have to understand is that they share the world with people who do not share their views. If they do not want to watch any movie because of elements in it, that reflect the real world but do not align with their dogma, then they can avoid the movie. They can avoid tv. They can avoid the radio. They can stay off the roads, weave their own cloth, etc... because the world is full of other people who build roads, weave cloth, make movies, music, and tv. They also write books, bank, control industry, and work in government.
What many people of religion realize is that most religions, including Christianity, do not speak against homosexuality or transgender individuals. It is a narrow interpretation of the scripture that does and the people who love to cite that one are still cherry picking which parts of the bible they wish to follow. They are, in fact, hypocrites.
So, no, you are right, no one can force them into acceptance of something they see as morally wrong, but there is no way they should ever impose their morals on anyone else.
