Dave was a MASSIVE douche to his dad. *spoilers*

The whole "when you're gone, who's gonna know" thing was a DIIIIICK move. Whytf would he say that to his own dad, someone has supported him and nurtured him and cared for him, his only parent after his mom died???

I bet he wish he could have took what he said back after his dad was *beep* murdered in a jail cell. -_-

Obviously didn't do a very good job.

But to answer your question, it's called "cliched, convenient plot point." You didn't know this script was written by a bunch of high school sophomores in detention hall?

Not quite sure you're being non-facetious but alright.

No, I'm serious. It was a product of bad screenwriting, just like the rest of this movie.

I think I get what 'Explorer' is saying...the writers tried to drum up some drama and pathos by making Dave sh!t on his dad before he died. Because then the death would be super extra sad.

Didn't work for me, though. I thought Mr. Lizewski was too goofy and annoying to care about.

I knew he was a goner when the ranting start. Dave was acting totally out of character and the whole scene felt ridiculously forced. They tried pulling an "Uncle Ben" but it was too cliche to be taken serious.

Actually, most of the original cast felt a little off. Mindy was all over the place, and I hated what they did to Red Mist. It pissed me off because the first movie did a very good job making us care for all these characters, only for the sequel to completely ignore what make the original so special.

It reminded me of the Raimi "Spider-man" movie scene. Where Peter gets mad and says bad things to his Uncle before his wrestling match. It is a way for the hero to feel extra guilty when morning his loss.
