Did anyone else think that when the girl came over this might take a crazy turn?

When Chad showed up, and was acting sort of strange/evil before the girl got there, I was thinking this might be some sort of Fight Club scenario, where they're really two parts of one person's personality. Terri, the good guy with morals, and Chad, urging him to essentially rape the girl. Showing up so he doesn't fuck it up.

I think what contributed to this was that I didn't understand why he gave his uncle a bunch of pills when he seemed to be doing "better" that night. I guess he wanted him out of the picture while she was over, but it seemed like the uncle was decent and not overly embarrassing, but maybe I'm wrong about that. It made me think that perhaps Terri had a kind of dark side to him that we hadn't noticed until this point in the movie.

I was dreading that the end of that night was going to end in a much different way, with the girl passing out and one (Chad) or both of them going to town on her. Would have been a much different movie, but I don't think it would have been out of question based on how the movie was up til that point. A surprise, for sure, but more like a "damn, I didn't see that coming" than a "fuck that movie, it just jumped the shark".
