Isn't Streisand To Old To Be Rogen's Mother?

the two could certainly pass for mother and son. but it would have made more
sense for her to be Rogen's grandmother.

Why would it have made more sense? Because of her actual age? Isn't that silly? She is ACTING. She convincingly played his mother and looked every bit the part. She could easily still play a romantic lead or costar in a film...look at the stuff Nicholson pulls off. She definitely doesn't look elderly and she certainly doesn't behave that way. To me, she looked every bit like a mother of a man around Rogan's age. Hell, it wouldn't have even been too far fetched for him to have played the object of her affection in another film. Not that she'd play such a part.

One thing I can say for Streisand...she doesn't appear to be ready to stop working. And that's a wonderful thing. :)

Oh...this was my first opportunity to see Streisand on the big screen, so this film was very special for me. :)

Streisand may be 70 but boy did she look like a woman in her late 50s in the film, so even to a non-Streisand fan like myself it was very believable for her to be his mother(I still thinks she's too old to play Mama Rose though), my grandma is the same age as Streisand and looks NOWHERE near as young as Streisand looked.

The short answer is no, she's not too old to be his mother. She looks way younger than 70, and Rogen looks 40.

reply

Nope. My mom had me in her forties (and then two more younger siblings).

reply

Are you kidding? If anything the one logical fault I can find is that Streisand 'looks' like someone who has had a lot of cosmetic surgery work done on her, which does not fit with her character.

She could pass for about 10 years older than Rogen!

reply

Well, Streisand looks younger than 70, and Rogen looks MUCH older than 30. I had no idea he was that young, I thought he was at least 42 or so.

reply

Most women can still get pregnant at age 40 and it makes perfect sense that an only child would be the offspring of someone who gave birth later in life - this besides the fact that Streisand is obviously playing a character at least a decade younger than herself (the movie does suggest she was young when she had him) and as has been mentioned on the thread Rogen looks older than his real age although he is playing his approximate age.

reply

The film did not tell us that she got pregnant at 40 though!

It's that man again!!

reply

But how many films tell you the approximate age the "mother" character was when they gave birth??

reply

I haven't counted but this film certainly did tell us her age when she gave birth.
