UK viewers - thoughts on the 15 rating?

I thought 15 was being very permissive. I get that a hard 15 these days is harder than most 18s from the 80s, etc etc, and some 15s really push the boundaries, e.g. Deadpool. But Sausage Party made Deadpool look tame. That orgy scene.... 

What do you think? 15 or 18?

100% should have been 18. Aside from the graphic violence and that orgy scene, the amount of uses of the C word surely should have pushed it over to the 18 category. How this was a 15 is beyond me haha.

Yeah, the BBFC really don't like male-to-female uses of the c-word. A handful have been passed at 15 (Domnhall Gleeson to Maggie Gyllenhaal in Frank, off the top of my head, but it was said in a comic scene), but Ben Affleck calling Rosamund Pike one in Gone Girl was one of the two things that got it an 18. And one of the three uses of the c-word in SP was Jonah Hill calling Kristen Wiig the c-word, so there was that.

And like you said, the orgy scene. I've seen 18s, like The Canyons which had a ménages à quatre scene, but there wasn't much detail at all, just shadowy movement. Sausage Party had actual detail/indication of spunking etc!! I know it's slightly fantastical because it was food stuffs and not humans, but still. It left nothing to the imagination and I thought, too crude for a 15.

It's rated 12 in Norway.

The British board is meant to be quite fixed in its rules tho, I'm not sure if the Norwegian board is the same.

It's rated R21 in Singapore lol.

I would like to point out that the movie technically doesn't contain any sex or violence at all, as it shows things from the perspective of the food; where "sticking sausage into bun" in shown in a way that resembles human coitus and preparing food resembles violence.

Considering that, the rating makes more sense. I doubt that many 15 year olds would be traumatised from this.
