An interesting sidenote.

On a interesting side note. The song Hans is humming before he blasts the first troll to stone on the middle of the road is a very popular Scandinavian lullaby(Originally Swedish, but found outside Scandinavia as well, Finland for example.) and its called Trollmors vaggvisa(Trollmother's lullaby).

You can hear it in both Swedish and Norwegian(Trollmors vuggevise) on youtube.

I'm not quite sure why Hans is humming that, and why the troll gets so infuriated by it, except it is related to trolls.

Its written by Margit Holmberg 1912-1989.The lullaby is about a troll mother who sings a song with the words "Hoajajajaj buff" for her eleven children about to go to sleep, because those are the most beautiful words she knows.

This is the lyrics;
"När trollmor har lagt de elva små trollen
och bundit fast dem i svansen
Då sjunger hon sakta för elva små trollen
de vackraste ord hon känner
ho aj aj aj aj buff,
ho aj aj aj aj buff
ho aj aj aj aj buff buff
ho aj aj aj aj buff."

Loosely translated in English;
"When troll mother has put the eleven small trolls to bed
and bound them stuck with their tails
She slowly begins to sing for the eleven small trolls
the most beautiful words she knows
..."

Its a mundane and not very important detail in the movie, but it still is interesting and nice to see small detail like despite everything. It especially sounds nice with Otto Jespersen(Hans) deep voice, I'd really like to hear him sing the full version of the song. Kind of reminds me of Cornelius Vreeswijk. Thanks for this info! It's a nice touch in a film full of nice touches. I thought that scene was pretty funny when Hans started singing. Without knowing what the song was, I assumed he was just singing to attract the troll's attention and because, well, it was just another day on the job. Might as well sing a little to help pass the time.
