Minor thing I would change
For those who don’t remember the first movie well, Maverick asks “permission for a fly-by” two or three times. Every time permission is denied, but he does it anyway.
In the new one he does the same fly-by only this time he does NOT ask for permission - he just does it. I think it would have been better for the character’s arc if he had asked and finally received permission.
