OK, seriously, how good is this movie?

And is it really, for one, better or even MUCH better (should probably be - much better or even SLIGHTLY better) than the acclaimed 1986 original nearly if not exactly 36 years earlier?

I for one haven't seen it yet but the original "Top Gun" from 1986 was decent and I give it gladly 6/10 to. How is this one folks?

Really cool. The flying and g forces are real.

The hype is real. This is how you make a movie. Go see it on the big screen. You won’t regret it.

Top Gun: Maverick 7

Good old-fashioned fun time at the theater. We've seen most of it before, but we enjoy it anyway. It's somewhat bittersweet because even though it's a fun watch, times have changed. Movies have changed. How we feel about patriotism and the USA fighting the good fight has changed. Looking forward to seeing it again anyway.

It is good, but I don’t think it was as good as the original and the reason is I didn’t think that the characters were as interesting as the ones in the original. It also lacked the emotional punch of the original. I would highly recommend seeing it however.

I think it is quite a bit better than the original. The original got a bit bogged down in the love story between Charlie and Maverick. The final act in this movie is also infinitely better than the first one. Although, I do agree the original had a stronger supporting cast and characters.

this was my take also. but still a fun movie. am going a 4th time - because: BIG SCREEN

I was skeptical because I considered the original to be mediocre and brainless 80s cheese. Maverick, however, was much more intelligent and entertaining. The ending, even if implausible, is far more exciting. The dialog overall is much wittier and references the original very well without a blatant wink-and-a-nod to the audience. It's a good movie. Of course, it's also being hyped above and beyond because it's so refreshingly devoid of SJW bullshit. It's not hard to imagine the numerous ways in which a worthless Hollywood parasite like Alex Kurtzman could've ruined it in the same manner that he's transformed Star Trek into a steaming turd of wokeness.

Its ok. It resonates on the same level as the original. If you paid to see it you wouldnt be disappointed.
