This has potential to be a huge hit

Yellowstone is extremely popular and with Costner being behind this it will have a lot of cross appeal. I think we could be looking at one of the biggest hits of the year here if the movie is good.

another Top Gun Maverick epic level of old man success!

I sure hope so! I would be happy to see both Costner and the western genre get a big win here.

I hope that the movie is both excellent and a big box office hit, and that he's able to makes Parts 3 and 4, like he wants to.

reply

Maybe. And I hope it is as epic as it looks like it could be. However, let's not forget, Costner's vanity projects have a mixed track record. He struck gold with Dances with Wolves, and Open Range was a big success too. But Waterworld, The Postman, and Wyatt Earp all flopped.

I really hope he gets it right this time.

reply

A fair point. I'll check this out. But I'll be honest, that trailer seemed off to me. Like the cuts didn't seem to flow as well as they should.

reply

He didn't direct Waterworld.

reply

I didn't say he did, I said it was one of Costner's vanity projects. He was one of the producers, and the film's actual director, Kevin Reynolds, quit the production before it was finished because of continued heated arguments with Costner over creative decisions made during the movie.

Wyatt Earp may have flopped but it's not a bad film. While it's certainly no Tombstone, I enjoy it well enough.

Waterworld is at least a better film than it's usually given credit for.

The Postman was bad, though. I saw it in the theater and walked out basically being like, "WTF was that?"
