I DID MY WAITING! 2 YEARS OF IT!!

Two years my mother and I have been waiting for this film! It is our favorite book and to say that we are more than a little taken with it is an understatement.
I understand it was always meant as a tribute, which only made the idea more endearing. The movie starts off delightfully, and although I am not a fan of the stop motion animation, it was still well done.

AND THEN SPOILER!

It goes completely bananas. The girls pipe dream of meeting the Prince as an adult, and getting him back to his own planet. He already GOT back to his own planet in the original story. And why did his adult version look like a strung out heroin addict?? The weird chained to the desk scene, the conceited man and the number cruncher, it was all just way too overdone.

I'm so painfully disappointed! It had such enormous potential. I understand the high rating, as I rated it higher purely for nostalgia. But if this is your first foray into The Little Prince PLEASE give the original musical a try http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071762/
It is wonderful and I am surely going to have to watch it to get this mess out of my head. Also of course read the book.
