Impressive cast for such a low-key/unambitious movie

That is one impressive list of A-listers participating in this movie. I'm surprised because I didn't think it was an ambitious project. It wasn't even marketed as such, unless I missed something. I did get a excited when I saw the first trailer, being a fan of the original (which was read to me as a bed-time story again and again before I learned to read), but then I almost forgot about it, not having seen any further posters/ads for it when it actually came out. I only watched it today because it came up on my Netflix suggestions.

It is a nice little movie, but it doesn't offer too much other than a very nice visualisation of some of the original scenes and a decent - but not particularly exciting - attempt at a "sequel" (well, not really a sequel, more like a further elaboration on the original idea and messages). The problem is that a text like Saint-Exupéry's is perfect as it is. Not even one word needs to be added or removed because every single word accomplishes so much. It's the same as Alice in Wonderland. And, although this movie is nowhere near the disaster that is Tim Burton's retelling/sequel of Alice, it feels a bit like an unnecessary addition.
