Besides The Road, what other movies are similar to this one?
Looking for similar post apocalyptic movies to watch. I've seen The Road. Any others like this out there? Thanks

Tooth and Nail...it was one of the After Dark Horrorfest offerings.
shareThe Divide, it's set mostly in a basement but though I hate one scene movies generally this is an exception - the characterisation and action is really good. The Book of Eli is another but didn't like the story that much, pushed the boundaries of logic a bit to far.

Agree with most of the mentions: particularly The Book of Eli and Hell (though I saw it under the title "Apocalypse"). If you don't mind throwing zombies into the mix, there's the recent Dead Season, which I actually thought was pretty good. I didn't think The Day was bad (there's some pretty good action, and the acting was all quite good, particularly the always reliable Shawn Ashmore and Ashley Bell), but I thought the aforementioned films were all superior.
Stake Land is a vampire zombie film that I enjoyed, having heard nothing about it before viewing it, it was a surprisingly good.
shareOther good post-apocalyptic movies in a melancholy mode...
Obviously this one is like another tale from the same world as The Road (which was actually that Yellowstone's gargantuan volcano sent the world into total global gray.)
Stakeland is very close in tone - Vampire apocalypse.
Last Man on Earth - Vincent Price in this somber vampire apocalypse film.
The Quiet Earth - Moody New Zealand post-apocalyptic film from the 80's. Nuclear Apocalypse.
Panic in the Year Zero ... Very similar in tone though filmed like an extended Twilight Zone episode. Nuclear apocalypse.
Carriers - Recent infection film. Disease apocalypse.
And there are many more Post-Apocalyptic films that are worth seeing... Enjoy and think about the future.
gulag, if The Quiet Earth is the one I'm thinking of, it was a governmental wireless electric grid that wiped everyone out--not nuclear war.

Yes You are right. A sort of mysterious techno-glitch. Great film though. I was probably mixing it up with Def-Con 4.
shareDef-Con 4. Heh.
Not exactly a great movie, but I loved the bad guy's last line.
Good concept. If only it had a budget...

Thanks for recommending The Quiet Earth. It was interesting to see a post-apoc film with minimal weapons or violence. Also recently watched these indie, end-of-the-world or post apoc movies: Goodbye World, Right at Your Door, Coherence, Disaster L.A., Perfect Sense.

shareCheck out "The Escape". It's streaming on Netflix right now. Same ultra violence with a great female heroine. Danish made with sub-titles. Top notch cinematography and continuously exciting.
shareObviously the Mad Max series, and all the various Mad Max rip-offs.
There's a French movie, Le Dernier Combat, that's similar.
The Ultimate Warrior, with Yul Brynner is pretty good.
