Why did they make this movie Black and White

Any clues ?

reply

They didn't. The colour has just been toned down same as in The Road. It gives it that gritty effect.

reply

I like to call it that pretentious annoying effect. Movie would have been better in colour. Simple as that.

reply

Don't be a penis. It's black and white.

Good black and white should have good use of lighting, shadows. All the B&W was used for was to mute the palette. Very dull looking.

Sin City did a better job of using B&W and HD.

reply

'good black and white'?!?

Wasn't even black and white...red blood everywhere.

reply

It was black and white. Just shut your stupid mouth.

Except for the beginning, which was in colour.

Then you're clearly color blind.. It borderlines on B&W I'll give you that, but the fire scene you can see the beige flesh tones, the brown on the gun stock. Shannon death scene you can see the green on the pine needles, hell you can even make out the red on the little girls bow barrette.

It might surprise you to learn that I stated that this film is NOT in black and white without actually opening my mouth...so it's pointless to tell me to shut it.

Oh, and I don't do what inveterate loud mouthed idiots tell me to do...:)

reply

To create a mood. And probably to evoke Night of the Living Dead.

reply

And to add more suck. Black and white or completely toned down doesn't add to mood or effect. It's pretentious and unnecessary. There's a reason films and television and life are in color. It's better.

reply

If you are still making black & white or mute movies in the 21st century then you are an idiot!

The movie was good though. I cranked up my saturation and digital vibrance and it made it good enough to watch.

reply

If you could do that like you said then it can't have been in black and white can it?

Turning up the saturation and vibrancy of a black and white film will not make it colour.

The only way that would work is if it had a muted pallete.

Thanks for confirming that for us.

But I'd take issue with your assertion that there is no place for monochrome...it looks nice sometimes.

reply

Black and white gives a creepier feel.
