Very pretty but couldn't get thru it.

When Vronsky appears on the scene, it's an immediate turn-off. He is so phaggy that the film immediately loses me. So Anna must have some weird tastes but this Vronsky is such an over-the-top phag to make . . . I dunno, even Willie Wonka blush? And the conceit of telling the story in a theatre is just too cute. Plus, there's all that color, very pretty to look at -- but the damned thing is just soooooooo distracting. (And all those flimsy evening gowns would not have made their wearer last an evening in frigid St. Petersburg w/o catching pneumonia.

The Sophie Marceau-Sean Bean version was FAR SUPERIOR to this junk. I rate this film only a little more palatable than the execrable MOULIN ROUGE.
