Is this good?

I love Joe Wright, specifically Atonement and Hanna, and I've wondered if this is good. I have no experience whatsoever with the novel. Is it good? Is there a better adaptation to start with?

It’s worth a look but I’d watch the 1935 (Greta Garbo) and 1948 (Vivien Leigh) versions first, both are much better.

The 2012 film is beautifully shot and designed but the acting is mostly insipid.

The novel is immense and impossible to cram into a two-hour movie and Wright’s film tries to stuff in too much, while the earlier movies focus primarily on the love triangle and the core of the book.

Cool. Thanks, I'll start with Garbo and take it from there.
