Just as great as the first one

Me too. People are crazy now days. This movie hit the same tones as the first. I loved the first movie and I laughed non stop during the whole movie. I think we've been tainted by so many crap comedies that people can't recognize a good one.

Nope. No way in hell was it as good as the original Bad Santa.

Bad Santa 2 feels like a quick cashcow/rehash with the heart but without the soul of the film.

What made the original Bad Santa was the remarkable comedy with Bernie Mac, John Ritter, Billy Bob Thorton and the semi-retarded kid. Tony Cox (the midget) was also really good in the original too.

Now, on Bad Santa 2 they brought back Billy Bob, Tony Cox and the kid who's an adult now and dear god, Thurman's scenes were really awful in that he looked and felt like a manchild who needed to be parented. Plus, he wasn't funny at all in comparison to when Thurman was a kid, back then he was spectacularly hilarious.

Of course, we didn't get Ritter or Mac as they've passed away and even if they were alive, reusing them again would just feel heartless because this is supposed to be a sequel and so you'd expect it to be different than samey.

it's better than it gets credit for at the very least. also, i think it's better than most straight comedies out there which score much higher but are generally forgettable but with this movie it's a movie ill re-watch and like i always say re-watch factor is what ultimately makes or breaks a movie long term.

for me...

-Bad Santa (2003) - 6-6.5/10 (but i will say this score was higher for me at one point in the past)
-Bad Santa 2 (2016) - 6/10

so while i like the first movie more i don't think the second movie is that far behind it. with that said... neither are nothing special as special status starts at a 7 for me.

Agreed, it was great. The fact that it infuriates the woke ‘critics’ of today only makes it better, same goes for Dumb & Dumber To which was also way underrated.

Time will be very kind to these strong comedy sequels.
