I think the beginning is about 1996 and the end is 2012. Almost a year passes between Luke's death and the time jump, so the whole beginning was 96-97, then it jumps 15 years to 2012. I figure this because the movie was made in 2012 and in a deleted scene Luke says he was born in 1966, so this timeframe would match up well with that.
