Why Marvel May Retire Black Panther For Good

https://screenrant.com/why-marvel-retire-black-panther-chadwick-boseman-mcu/

The tragic death of Chadwick Boseman means Marvel may retire Black Panther in the comics permanently.

reply

That's dumb. Honestly, it was pretty selfish of Boseman to conceal his cancer.

reply

It is dumb. NO reason the death of a movie star should cause a comic book character to be retired.

ON the other hand, you can't expect an actor to give up a role like that, especially at the end of his life.

reply

I mean, ethically, when the whole idea is that you are going to keep playing the character for several movies, there is a good reason to give it up. I understand why he would be tempted not to, which is why I said it was selfish.

reply

i'm used to big employers having no loyalty or care for me as a worker. That gives me no consideration for them. Is that wrong?

reply

But I'm not talking primarily about his employer--more about the fans. Especially in a case where it's a big deal for a lot of Black people. That makes it especially selfish to cause there to be far fewer Black Panther movies (that is, ones that actually star T'Challa) than if he had let someone else play the part.

reply

Fair point about the fans. In the past when I heard that point brought up, it was in teh context of the studios and all they invested.

I still am tempted to be sympathetic to a man facing a terminal diagnosis. I imagine if I was him, i would be thinking about what I would be leaving my wife.

reply

Yeah. I wish there was a way for him to get the money but leave the role to someone else.

reply

Lol, if comic readers know anything it's that characters almost never stay dead. There is zero chance of a major marketable HERO dying and staying dead.

Even more asinine, he's not even dead! Oh, things are going bad and the world's against him? Every book lead goes through arcs like that.

The dude writing the article is either a moron or (more likely) just putting out low-effort clickbait.

reply

I LIKE YOU.🙂

reply

That’s insane. One actor shouldn’t affect the fate of a fictional character.

Look at all the actors who have died that had played superheroes. Their characters weren’t retired because of it in comics or movies/shows.

The fact that they did it in the movies because an actor few people had heard of before the BP movie passed is idiotic enough.

Doing it in the comics would deprive people of enjoying future stories with a character that has been around for decades.

reply

They have ruined the character with their bad writing. It will be GOOD to let it lie fallow for a decade or two, and bring it back somewhere down the line.

reply

Only after Disney sells Marvel.

reply

YES. Very much so. It would do no good to have these fools try to reboot it. It would be like shooting yourself in the foot. Twice. And cutting off your OTHER FOOT.

reply

That is just dumb.

reply

It’s called clickbait.

Post stupid stuff.

Get people to click and rant.

Professional trolling.

That's simply going overboard now as though no other black man is capable of playing the role, right?? Come on
