SPOILER SPOILER Why would they make Vic pregnant?

I feel an annoying story line coming on...

That would be dumb although in the books she is pregnant, with Walt's baby. But then is stabbed, looses the baby, etc.
I really hate these storylines where these women who have good jobs, are successful, smart etc, don't seem to follow any protocol for birth control, and obviously the guys don't either, and I think that just shows such a lack of responsibility by all involved.

I haven't gone any further then the 2nd episode, so not sure what would be going on.

reply

ACK!
Why would you announce "SPOILER"
AND
still put the spoiler in the title bar?

reply

LOL - thanks for that "spoiler" alert. Haven't started to watch the new season yet but I guess Vic ends up with a bun in the oven. Might as well tell me who the Baby Daddy is.

reply

I put this as a spoiler just in case.

Vic's not sure. She had two one night stands. So the father could be Eamonn O'Neill, the deputy from Cumberland County or Travis, Branch's old friend who lived with his mom.

reply

thanks for info. I think I'd like another option for the Baby Daddy.

reply

I'm guessing that Vic does too.

reply

Thank you, I wondered the same thing. So I guess Vic is pregnant.

reply

I know, really. lol

I can't stop laughing. But mainly at myself because that word, "spoiler," is a magnet for me even when I don't want to know.

So I opened the thread anyway hoping the child's not Longmire's. lol
I piss myself off sometimes. lol

But to prove to myself that I can exert some restraint, yours is the last post I'll read until I catch up in the series.

Because the thread starter is an obvious troll. There's no way that isn't intentional.

reply

Why would you be in a forum and not be caught up with a show? Ive never understood the spoiler thing here... If I dont say what I am talking about in the title people are less likely to read the post. Dont come here if you arent caught up.

reply

Yes, I agree. I think that it's really plot device to keep Vic and Walt separate for most of S6, if they get one. If they don't get a S6 we are really going to be left hanging!!!

By the way, I think it's best not to put spoilers in the Subject line of your post, since not everyone has watched all of S5 yet.

This would be the dumbest storyline yet. Why do writers do this. As I said above, it just makes all these adults look irresponsible. Who in this day and age doesn't use birth control. Seriously. This isn't the 1950's.
Are we going to have some weird timeline again, like we did over Branch and Cady, where three years was only a couple of weeks.
Where does Travis come into this story?
I am going to be real disappointed in the writers if they continue this story line, as it is just dumb and makes no sense in the show at all.

How many people are they going to say they are pregnant this season anyway.
I just heard the doc tell Walt that, but they hadn't done the deed. She was kidding.

Vic would've made those dudes jacket up.

Exactly. I am sick of these writers, who are probably men writing women as these stupid, not prepared women. I think this occurs in almost every tv show at least once per woman. Vic probably keeps a box in her nightstand drawer!!!

reply

Longmire has two women writers responsible for three season 5 episodes. Also, one of executive producers and co-showrunner is a woman.

Frankly, the storyline makes Vic and her two male friends irresponsible. One doesn't only worry about pregnancy with unprotected sex.

As for Vic keeping protection in her nightstand, with Eamonn it was on Cady's sofa and with Travis it was in his bedroom after they played rodeo games.

reply

About the nightstand, I was kidding. Maybe!
As far as the writers, I don't care if they are men or women, they do this in a lot of tv show. Somewhere along the story the woman gets pregnant, usually looses the baby, etc. It has been going on in tv shows and soap operas for years.

reply

Yes it does make them irresponsible and it is just an annoying story line that takes up time. It is a classic writing tool when you cant think of anything else. Its annoying, its always the same thing over and over. Its so predictable and boring.

What episode was this in?
For some reason have no recollection of this taking place .

It was a flashback memory of Vic and Travis hooking up. I think it was episode 9 or 10.

reply

Thanks, thought I had seen the entire season but somehow missed that completely .

I know a few adults in Vic's age range that got irresponsibly pregnant just in the last couple years. Irresponsible people will exist until the end of time.

I just hate the storyline because it's so cliché. Like they didn't know what to do with Vic, they didn't want to hook her up with Walt yet, so they throw this wrench in to keep the two away from each other...how about letting the complete lack of chemistry keep them away from each other? The show is not the books.

If we have to deal with this baby, I actually hope Travis is the father because he is sweet to her and they actually have kind of a fun relationship. Eamon is literally cardboard.

Also, the title to this thread is hilarious. I waited to come to the boards until I was done watching, but writing the spoiler right after the word is fantastic.

reply

Yeah. Apparently the OP never returned, or he/she would have seen the comments and suggestions that the title be changed. *sheesh*

reply

He replied recently it looks like. It is a couple under my post from about 24 hours ago. Evidently it is ok to put a spoiler and then what the spolier is in the title because we should only come to the boards if we are caught up. So for people who are just starting season one or behind on watching, I guess you are out of luck.

reply

I am commenting on something I don't even know anything about, since I have only seen three so far of the 5th season. So just commenting on the complete ridiculous nature of this whole thought.
Since I don't know when all this happens, I am going with Travis ax the father, as if it was Eammon she would already know considering the timeline, not that they usually care about that, but the part where the doc comes to see Walt it is six weeks later.

I sort of doubt they will have a baby in the picture, something will happen, otherwise who is going to raise it, Ruby, Travis's mom? Vic sure doesn't seem like mommy material.

It is just another weird storyline that is just stupid and useless.

And I realize that people are irresponsible, it is just hard to imagine in this day and age. I always felt if you didn't want a baby you made the effort not to have that happen.

reply

I always wonder how much input an actor has with the writers about their character, as I would not want this story line. It has been so over done on tv and soaps that it is boring.

reply

I know I'm in the minority here, but ... I like the pregnancy storyline. And, even tho I want Walt and Vic together, I also like the fact that they made Travis a possibility for "baby-Daddy" ... he seems to be the most sincere guy on the show!

reply

Trav may be a nice daddy/babysitter/mr. mom type, but he is hardly the alpha male Vic wants. Only Walt can fill that role.

Do you think they are going to carry out this story? I haven't seen any of that story line, but I just don't see it.

Aren't you taking a risk of being spoiled? Wouldn't it be better to continue watching?

reply

You'll have a definite opinion by the end of episode 10
